Discover the electrifying power and innovative design of the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GLC, a sleek blend of luxury and performance.
Set to debut next year, the electrifying new variant of Mercedes-Benz’s GLC SUV will sport the prestigious AMG badge, marking it as one of the brand’s most potent creations yet. Unlike the standard electric GLC revealed at the Munich Motor Show, the AMG iteration is built on an entirely different technical platform.
The impressive strength of this model stems from the AMG.EA powertrain architecture, previously demonstrated in the GT XX prototype boasting 1,341 horsepower. This high-performance SUV is equipped with three axial electric motors—one upfront and two at the back. This setup endows the vehicle with over 900 horsepower, nearly doubling the standard model’s performance rating of 489 horsepower.
With its formidable power output, the AMG GLC will soon join the ranks of high-performance luxury SUVs like the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo, which reaches almost 980 horsepower. This places the AMG GLC as the third most robust model in Mercedes’ history and the most powerful AMG SUV created thus far. However, an even more powerful model, the 1,000-horsepower GT SUV, is projected for a 2027 release.
Mercedes-AMG claims the GLC will accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in under three seconds, with a top speed electronically restricted to 250 kilometers per hour. This incredible performance is facilitated by the newly developed AMG battery technology. By transitioning from prismatic cells in the standard GLC EQ to cylindrical cells, AMG achieves a higher power density and improved heat management.

The high-tech battery system, featuring an 800V architecture, includes a cooling circuit encasing each cell to maintain optimal temperature, ensuring the SUV can sustain the high discharge needed by its three engines. Moreover, the setup supports fast charging, offering speeds up to 400 kW, which significantly surpasses the 330 kW of the standard model.
To enrich the driving experience, the AMG GLC integrates simulated gear shifts and a V8-like sound generator, providing the classic AMG driving sensation in an all-electric format.
