Get insights into Tesla’s Cybertruck recall, uncovering production figures and resolving lighting issues. Discover the latest developments.
For the first time, Tesla’s production figures for the Cybertruck have been inferred from a recent federal safety recall report. Despite the company’s reluctance to publicize the exact numbers of its angular, stainless steel model, the report provides a glimpse into its manufacturing scale.
The recall affects 63,619 Cybertruck units built between November 13, 2023, and October 11, 2025, due to an unusual issue: the front parking lights are excessively bright. This recall reveals the full production count since late 2023, marking the commencement of deliveries.
According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the problem arises from a software error, leading to front parking lights emitting beyond the permissible brightness levels. This contravenes Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108, which is intended to mitigate blinding oncoming drivers and reducing accident risks.
Fortunately, owners will not need to visit service centers, as Tesla has rolled out a solution via a wireless (OTA) software update. This update, available in software version 2025.38.3 and onwards, was deployed quickly following Tesla’s internal identification of the issue. No incidents or injuries linked to the bright lights have been reported, and formal owner notifications are due by December 13.
This development subtly underscores the intricacies faced in launching such an avant-garde vehicle like the Cybertruck. Each challenge encountered commands extensive attention due to its unique status in the electric vehicle landscape. Simultaneously, Tesla has stirred anticipation with the announcement of the next major project: the eagerly awaited Tesla Roadster is tentatively set for unveil before the conclusion of 2025, although past delays encourage cautious optimism.
