Discover how Meta’s new tool tackles video duplication on social media, ensuring unique content and protecting creators’ rights.
Meta has unveiled a groundbreaking solution to address the persistent issue of video duplication, a problem that has long troubled content creators. This innovative tool, Facebook Content Protection, has been designed to seamlessly identify unauthorized usage of original reels videos on Facebook.
Upon detecting a copied video, the system promptly sends a notification to the original creator. Here, creators are empowered with choices: to immediately block the visibility of the video across Facebook and Instagram, to attach a label guiding viewers to the authentic source, or to release the claim, thereby permitting the video to stay on the platforms.
With the aim of safeguarding original content creators from being overshadowed by imitators, Meta had already taken critical steps. In July, the tech giant reported the removal of an estimated 10 million fake accounts, a measure complemented by actions against 500,000 spam accounts.
The tool also supports content protection on Instagram, albeit under the condition that the content must have been simultaneously uploaded to Facebook. Automatically provided to creators within the Facebook Content Monetization program who satisfy specific originality and reliability standards, this feature is gradually extending to Rights Manager users. Eligibility can be verified via the Professional Dashboard, and applications for access are available on Facebook’s website.
